IF A TREE FALLS IN A FOREST
...what sound does it make?
A series of improvisation sessions that use the medium of sound. Where ourr bodies or any objects that surround us are susceptible of turning into a narrator: a dragged microphone becomes a corpse we are trying to get rid of; a knock on a surface may sound like the most beautiful bird mating call...
THE IRONING BOARD
The Ironing Board is a design-critique-turned-design-comedy duo formed by Marta Ríos (2020, MA Social Design) and Miguel Parrrra (2020, MA Contextual Design). Based in The Netherlands, Miguel and Marta explore methodologies to play around contemporary notions on how the performance of design should be. Their practice deals with current understandings of authorship, public representation and institutional critique. Their work is built through storytelling and comedy-making techniques, taking the shape of performative lectures, radio shows and documentary films. The Ironing Board ultimately wishes to encourage the use of humour as a tool to temporarily halt design’s tendency to do business-as-usual.
